This years girl’s basketball team is going strong. With last years team record being 6-18; this year has been a turn-around with a season going 12-11 in wins.

Coach Becky Fulkerson said, “The team is 100 percent better with six varsity members returning, and we’re getting the close wins that we lost last year.” In terms of the conference, Coach Fulkerson stated, “Their goal was second [place], but with the recent loss to Dunlap, they are hoping for third.” The loss to Dunlap made the team 7-4 in wins. Limestone is 8-3 and is projected to place second in conference, even though Pekin beat Limestone with the last-second three-pointer.

Junior Landin Lewis said that the team is “so much better, making it more fun to watch”. After all, everyone likes to see their team win!

An article in the Pekin Daily Times stated, “The lady dragons now have to win their final four regular season games to improve sixteen victories and surpass the team record of fifteen achieved two years ago.” Even though the team has lost the last few games, they are now looking for a strong finish to the season.

Their next opponent is Morton, and Fulkerson said, “They may beat us 99 games out of 100, but we just need to play hard and get that one win.”
